Founded in the Summer of 2013, MusicGreekΣ is a non-profit organization which serves to commemorate and raise awareness of the existence of seven national music organizations, building a powerful networking tool with a commitment to attending and creating service and social opportunities. MusicGreekΣ advocates and promotes Greek unity (amongst seven national music organizations) and musical advancements.  In networking and advancement MusicGreekΣ has a sincere interest in targeting youth ages 13-18 in hopes to inspire the continuation of musical advancement through early adulthood and life thereafter.  MusicGreekΣ plans to have a scholarship fund in place, specifically for youth involved in music to attend college by 2015.

Prior to the MusicGreekΣ scholarship initiative in 2015 in January 2014 MusicGreekΣ donated to existing efforts of other groups and organizations that advocate music. MusicGreekΣ will donate to the GBSI Scholarship Initiative sponsored by the Atlanta Alumni Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. Along with this scholarship, MusicGreekΣ will be making a donation to the SIG-PHI Connection group that meets yearly doing the annual Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta, GA. A monetary donation will be given to the organizers of this event who make an annual donation to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Education Funds (SEF) and Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies.

In January 2014, MusicGreekΣ will host an evening party at a local event center in Atlanta, GA. This event was created as a safe, and fun social opportunity in efforts to raise funds to donate to the GBSI Scholarship Initiative and SIG-PHI Connection as mentioned and will defray startup cost, and legal cost associated with making MusicGreekΣ an official organization. Additionally MusicGreekΣ has also been in contact with Patrick Pierson a representative from the Atlanta Mission in an effort to make a contribution to the organization last January 2014 for during the Honda (BOTB) weekend. Listed below are statements from these organizations that provide an insight into these causes:

“Atlanta Mission, which was formerly called Atlanta Union Mission, was initially established in 1938 as just a soup kitchen for men. Along the way, Atlanta Mission decided to expand their services to better serve the people that were initially sought to help. This currently includes women and children as well.  Today, Atlanta Mission provides people in Atlanta and the metropolitan area with emergency shelters, residential discipleships, job attainment services and transitional housing. Our Christian non-profit organization provides not only a place to go, but also life resources for more than 950 homeless men, women and children on a daily basis.”

Golden Baton Scholarship Initiative

The Atlanta Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma sponsors the Golden Baton Scholarship Initiative Program (GBSI) that is geared towards high school juniors in the Metro Atlanta area who are interested in participating in a collegiate marching band. GBSI participants are taken through a series of workshops that prepare them for college and participation in a collegiate marching band. Workshop series are conducted on college preparation (SAT/ACT, applications, financial aid, housing, scholarships), leadership, professional development, writing, oration, interviews, musicality, private lessons, recital preparation, arranging, music theory, and college life.

MusicGreekΣ began with the focus on four national music organizations:

· Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc.

· Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women, Inc.

· Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.

· Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority Inc.

As of November 2013 MusicGreekΣ reconvened to discuss the incorporation and of three more national music organizations for a total of seven organizations commonly known as the National Interfraternity Music Council. Those organizations are:

· Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity

· Phi Beta Fraternity

· Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity

At no time does the MusicGreekΣ organization express any affiliation with any of the aforementioned organizations, as we have no right to. MusicGreekΣ operates solely as a business entity, while creating events, and opportunities, which strongly agree with the objectives/ goals of each organization.
